Another Blogger Challenge with Bagster Bag

There must be something about this time of year.  I almost invariably feel a sense of re-commitment to my DIY projects.  And yeah, maybe it does have something to do with the impending “threat” of having to host.  My wife and I are, in fact, entertaining the rest of the family this . . . New Years Day.

*big gasp* . . . and my mind quickly scrolls to my to-do list:

  • Re-build, re-install second story porch rail.Christmas Stockings Hung on a Wall by a Fireplace
  • Install door and lock, paint master bath door.
  • Paint and install hardware hall bath door.
  • Install dryer vent cap. (oh wait! yesterday)
  • Mill and install baseboard patch at chimney in kitchen.
  • Make and install shelf from salvaged teak for TV components.
  • Make and install set of hooks closet.  (Actually doing this with my girls with another publication in mind.)
  • Install vinyl tile in pantry.
  • Trim kitchen window.
  • Repair plaster playroom.
  • Replace rosettes upstairs hallway.
  • Caulk and Insulate and Seal And … Coincidentally our FIRST Blogger Challenge.

Building Moxie's Dump Pile

(Too see how I did with my ToDo List, check my follow up post here >> Building Moxie in a Bagster Bag :: The Year in Review.)

I mean – Santa Could Bring me Another Me

And I entertain that. . .  for a brief second, as if — I think, “Hmmmm?”  But of course reality sets in, and I realize there is no way I’m gonna get all that done before company comes.  “True… but then again,” . . . I take another long second.  I mean – I am now free from the burden of Summer, free from Fall’s maxed out calendar, and I know! that the holidays too are soon to be nothing more than a fond set of memories.

Maybe it is the Season … that is — the beginning of this here cold, winter season.  It marks the beginning of our indoor time, perfect for cozy cuddling underneath the stockings, wonderful for the warm snugglings of championship football, andddddd, well, optimal for the wham, the bam of the punch out work on those there todo-list items.

‘Tis the DIY Season!  And fortunately, this year, I got a little help, a ToDo List Solution!

It’s a DIY-MasTM Miracle

Enter the Bagster® bag from Waste Management!!!
WM The Bagster Bag Dumpster in a BagWhat’s the Bagster Bag? Well, listen:

  • The Bagster® bag is a highly durable, woven bag designed for disposing as much as 3,300 pounds of debris and is big enough to hold full sheets of plywood, doors and even a bathtub.
    • It is sold at local home improvement and hardware stores, including participating Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace HardwareTrue Value as well as on Amazon. To find one of 2200 retailers, one near you, visit www.thebagster.com.
  • Bagster® bags cost just $29.95 and the flat rate collection fee ranges from $79 to $159 per bag, depending on your area – 50 to 70 percent less than a dumpster rental.
  • The Bagster® bag is ready (for pick up) when you are – great for last-minute projects or ones that need an extended period of time to complete.

And there mine is, sitting right there.  It took me all of about 15 minutes to read the instructions (right on the packaging) and to set it up.  I’ve already got my load started and maybe I rig up some sort of covering for it soon. The Bagster Bag Set up It takes the place of my now infamous dump pile (and sorry, I didn’t get a better pic — ideally everything is more evenly distributed setting the bag up straighter).

As I roll, I mean – make my way through my to-do list, I’ll add my construction debris (and only that which is beyond reclamation) to it.  And maybe if (do dream) it hangs around long enough (again — there is no time limit for its pick up!), I’ll be ready for our next big project:

  • Clean out attic
  • Renovate attic into guest bedroom.

  1. Last time I checked, I wanted to use a Bagster at my home, but the service wasn’t available yet. I can’t wait for it to become available in my hood :)

  2. I usually say nice things about people that are nice to me, but I gotta tell you — really digging it for how *I* work… almost always dread that trip to the dump — for a reasonable price the Bagster circumvents it all. Just a little interested to see how it will go with snow certainly coming. cheers. and luck. ~jb

  3. JB, I had no idea that this product existed. I always learn so much from you! I think this is a fabulous product. Are they reusable? Thanks for the info and as always, great post!

  4. I think it’s been out for a little more than a year now… and I know it jumped right to my attention — smart little solution for remodeling for sure. I did confirm (as it is the first time I am using one) that they are not reusable. they are picked right up (by the large straps) and loaded right into the truck for haul away. Glad you enjoyed Brenda — I’ll be hitting everyone with updates as I work my way through that list.

  5. you know you are not getting a bag if you win?… just a $100 to spend on chocolate, cheesecake, spandex or whatever else you choose to spend your money on. ha! :~)

  6. Like to congratulate the winner of the $100 gift card courtesy of Waste Management and the Bagster Bag >> Sandy Connolly. *confetti* Thanks all for entering. and happy holidays all.
